A yearbook will
be produced and published each year. Class pictures, events of the year,
staff members, groups, and candid shots will be included in the yearbook.
Order forms will be sent home in the spring and delivered in August to
include end-of –the year pictures. This is a nice memento of the year’s
experiences. If you take pictures of your child’s class activities or
sporting events, the yearbook committee would appreciate duplicates that you
could send into the school office for possible consideration for inclusion
in the yearbook.
In an effort to
maximize the safety of our school community, school entrances will remain
locked for the entire day once all students have arrived in the morning.
There is a call box located outside each door. Visitors are to “buzz” the
office and identify themselves. The office staff will monitor the visitors
and grant entrance into the building. Please be patient as sometimes the
office staff is busy attending to answering phones and attending to
students. Please remember that the office closes at 3:30 PM and there will
be no one to answer the door after this time. We ask your cooperation in not
opening the doors for anyone once you are inside the building. This will
help to ensure the safety of our school community.
Smoking is strictly forbidden on school
grounds inside and out. Students are not to carry nor use tobacco products
of any kind.
See
"Calendar" section for details.
Students will have three
class parties: Halloween, Christmas, and Valentine’s Day. The amount of
assistance needed for the parties is up to the classroom teacher. Room
parents may be asked to help organize the party. The parties should not last
any longer than 1 & ½ hours. A Christmas party is held the last day of
school before the Christmas vacation. There is no gift exchange within the
classroom, except for class projects during the Advent season.
Other social
events will be announced in the weekly newsletter or by special
announcement.
Treats for a child’s birthday celebration need to be approved by the child’s
classroom teacher. We realize this is a special day for the child, however,
we try to impact the instructional day as least as possible. Please make
arrangements with the classroom teacher at least one week in advance, if you
would like to bring in a treat in for your child’s class. The treats will be
given out at the end of the school day. Invitations to birthday parties
or parties outside the school day cannot be given out at school.
