On Friday
mornings all students will gather in the gym. Each classroom will have a
designated location marked in the gym. Students are to be seated quietly on
the floor/ bleachers with his/her belongings. The entire student body will
participate in a very short assembly consisting of prayer, the Kindness
Pledge, The Pledge of Allegiance, announcements, student recognition, and
the presentation of PEACE Words. Parents are welcomed and encouraged to
attend. The purpose of these assemblies is to enhance the “Family” type
climate and culture of Saint Mary’s and to demonstrate a faith-filled
nurturing and caring school community.
THE
KINDNESS PLEDGE
I pledge to
myself on this day,
To try to be kind
in every way,
To every person
big and small,
I will help them
if they fall.
When I love
myself and others, too,
That is the best
that I can do.
FIELD TRIPS/ EDUCATIONAL
TOURS
Educational Tours
or field trips must be of an educational nature to be included in our school
program. All tours must be approved by the Principal. Teachers supervise the
tours. At SMCS our philosophy is that tours support the Indiana Academic
Standards and provide enrichment to our curriculum that could not be
accomplished in any other way. Parents are encouraged to chaperone
educational tours. This is a special time for you and your school-aged
child. Younger siblings are not permitted to attend these events. Field
trips are a privilege not a right. The parents' written consent must be
obtained and kept on file in the school office for the remainder of the
school year.
In order for a
student to be eligible for enrollment at St. Mary's School, his/her
parent(s) or guardian(s) must support St. Mary's Parish and also pay a
tuition charge annually set by the Board of Education. In addition, parents
are required to help supplement the difference between the actual
per-student cost and tuition by supporting specific fund-raising activities
to off-set those expenses. All school families are required to support
and work a designated shift at the annual Saint Mary’s Festival and Street
Dance that is held annually on Father’s Day Week-end. Parents, who are
active members of St. Mary's Parish, that demonstrate financial need, may be
considered for tuition assistance by submitting a formal application. These
families should contact the principal to make special arrangements to
request an application for Tuition Assistance. Applications must be
submitted annually.
All
families will be expected to make tuition payments according to one of the
following payment plans. Each family’s preferred manner of payment must be
submitted each year at the time of student pre-registration. Options for
payment will include:
v
Single Payment Due July 1:
A single payment
made by July 1, entitles the family to a discount. Payment is made directly
to Saint Mary’s School. All returned checks will require future
payments to be made with cash or money order only. The per student book,
supply, and technology fee is not included in this annual payment and will
be due at August registration.
v
Ten- Month Plan - Tuition payments made through FACTS Tuition Management
Plan:
This is an automatic payment plan made through the family’s checking or
statement savings account. Payments are due July through April. Those
choosing this plan will authorize their bank to make automatic monthly
payments to FACTS either the 5th or 20th of each
month. The individual student book, supply, and technology fee may not be
included into this plan and is required to be paid in full at student
registration. FACTS charges a non-refundable annual enrollment fee of $38.00
per family.
Late
Payments
It will be the
responsibility of each school family to keep the Principal or Business
Manager informed of their need to make any changes in their preferred
tuition payment plan. Without such information, the following policy will
apply when tuition payments are received late.
v
Full Payment-
If payment is not
received on or before July 1, the discounted rate of tuition will not apply.
When full payment has not been made by July 15, all tuition payments will be
made through FACTS Tuition Management Plan in order for your child to begin
school. No exceptions will be made.
v
Monthly Payments-
Families who
chose the 10 month payment plan who miss a monthly payment due to
insufficient funds will be automatically charged a missed payment fee by
FACTS and may incur a similar penalty from their own banking institution. If
payments are missed, a letter with instructions on how the missed payment is
to be made up will be sent to you from FACTS.
Book
rental, supply, and technology bills as well as the monthly cafeteria fee,
and Home and School Association Fee are due on registration day.
Any
parents or guardians who have made no effort to pay tuition for each quarter
of the school year will be notified to transfer their child to another
school. Report cards, permanent records, and awards will be withheld
until all tuition is paid in full. Those parents that have contacted the
principal and made other arrangements for payments are exempted from this
policy (Policy 3220.4).
FUND RAISING/
STREET DANCE
Fund raising is a
vital part of acquiring funds to cover the operational costs of St. Mary's
School. All school families are required to contribute their time,
talent, and treasure in fund raising events, with the major event being the
summer Street Dance, Casino Night and capital prize ticket sales. This
Street Dance is held each Father’s Day week-end in June. Please mark your
calendar!
