Project PEACE is a
peer mediation training program
implemented by the Indiana
Department of Education with support
from the Indiana State Bar
Association and the Indiana Attorney
General’s Office. This
public-private partnership
introduces dispute resolution
techniques to elementary and middle
school students throughout Indiana.
Project PEACE
strives to reduce conflicts and
violence in schools by teaching
children how to discuss and mediate
their disagreements. The objective
of Project PEACE is to neutralize
minor conflicts before they become
explosive confrontations which often
lead to violent acts. Children
become active participants in
controlling behavior in their
schools by taking the role of
mediator.
The purpose of
Project PEACE training is to
introduce participants to the peer
mediation process and to provide
them with instruction to teach their
students.
The Project Peace Team would like to
encourage you to come to us for help. If you are in an argument,
or in a conflict with one of your classmates, please come to us and we
will be happy to help you sort out your issues and become better
friends. We will try to teach you how to solve conflicts in which
you may be involved. Our program is completely confidential and
completely worthwhile. If you are in need, please don't be shy or
embarrassed. We will help you feel more comfortable in sticky
situations. Parents, please encourage your child to make use of
Project Peace on Wednesdays.
